So, after predicting the Big 12 weekend based on what it would look like fantasy wise, let’s take a look at how we did. Some things we missed fairly badly, but others we nailed on the dot … so read below to see where we stood for week 9 in Big 12 action:
Start of the Week: Roy Helu, Jr. – Nebraska RB – Well, we definitely missed the boat on this one. Nebraska is obviously in worse shape than we originally thought. After a brutal loss to Iowa State at home last week we expected the Huskers to really try to just overpower the worst rushing defense in the Big 12. What happened was Helu, Jr. ran for a whopping 24 yards on 7 carries while the entire team only ran for 145 while scraping together a mediocre 20-10 win on the road.
Predictions that made us look good:
Jerrod Johnson- QB, Texas A&M – We predicted Johnson to be our top QB for week 9. He didn’t disappoint as he passed for 234 yards and 3 TD’s while also rushing for 33 yards and another TD.
Landry Jones- QB, Oklahoma – Jones was our sleeper pick for the quarterbacks. He came up huge as OU held off a furious K-State comeback by throwing for 294 yards and 4 TD’s. The redshirt freshman also did something that none of us had ever seen before when he led OU to a first down after facing a 1st and 45!
Cyrus Gray – RB, Texas A&M – Cyrus was chosen as our #2 back for the week, and he came up big with 119 yards in a blowout win over Iowa State. As we predicted, A&M was able to take advantage of the 9th ranked rush defense to pull away from the scrappy ISU team who most likely saw their Big 12 North title hopes come to an end at Kyle Field.
Desmond Briscoe- WR, KU; Detron Lewis- WR, TTech – We nailed 2 out of 3 WR’s in the KU-Tech game that we predicted to have big games. Briscoe was able to get loose for 110 yards and a TD while Lewis was able to muster up 87 yards and a TD for Tech. Suprisingly, all WR’s and QB’s in the game were overshadowed by the rushing of Texas Tech’s Baron Batch, who ran for 123 yards and a whopping 4 TD’s. That one we didn’t see coming!
